Playing with 9 - 12 month old babies
WHAT YOU CAN DO AND LOOK OUT FOR
- Play hide and seek. Ask “where is it?”, if not found, ask again, can you find it?”
Notice an increase in your child’s curiosity to find out what happened to the object.
- Voice your infant the names of things and people you are referring to.
Notice your infant’s attempt to connect words with objects and people.
- Show your child how to wave hands to say “bye-bye”.
Notice how your baby soon will start to make a connection between an action and words.
- Take the baby’s hand to point own and your eyes, nose and mouth. Say, this is my nose and this is your nose.
See your baby slowly able to identify these different words and relate them to her/his body parts.
