Tips for 6 years old
Parents can share the following activities and actions with their 6 years old:
- Spend time with your child and show interest on hers/his school activities
- Keep an eye on how your child is doing academically and socially in school
- Get involved in doing homework or tasks children bring home from school
- Help your child with learning school material
- Keep a friendly conversation about the day at school, ask for his/her feelings
- Attend parents’ meetings at school
- Get to know your child’s teachers
- Ensure that your child sleeps well and gets enough rest
- Share family time with your child
- Make sure your child keeps healthy teeth, at this time they begin to change milk teeth to adult ones
- Wash hands and body regularly and have clean clothes to change
- Make sure he/she is dressed and is ready to go to school
- Ensure your child has a nutritious breakfast
- Keep reading to your child at bed time or have them read to you
- Support your child’s self-esteem and confidence on body image
- If your child plays computer games consider setting time limits, as children may find them extremely engaging
- Resist comparing your child to others of similar age
- Remember that each child is ‘UNIQUE’
